CERTIFIED TRANSLATIONS

These are carried out by a sworn translator, who has to attest that the translated version is an accurate and complete translation of the original text.

If you wish, you can ask your translator for his or her credentials to prove their accreditation.

Some of the most common documents that are usually translated and certified are:

 • Police records
 • Medical reports
 • Birth and marriage certificates
 • Academic documents
 • Contracts
 • Last wills and testaments

Although these are the most common ones, ANY text can be subject of a certified translation, from handwritten letters to emails and even text messages.

Usually, the authority that requires the translation will let you know if you need it to be certified or not.
